Don’t read this book because I said it was amazing. I mean it tore me up and ripped me open and took over a decade to write, knowing, f’ing knowing, what emotional hell I was going to unleash on myself…

Read it because the Jennifer (jenjenbookfan) went in blind and had this to say!

The Way The Heart Breaks by M.J. Fields is a spin-off story to her Blue Valley series that gives readers the heart-wrenching, grief-stricken incident that shaped Jade’s formative years, and her admirable fight to press on in the face of all the pain! In full disclosure, I haven’t read that original series yet, but I’m almost glad, because this felt like an actual beginning.... I wasn’t quite ready for the rush of emotions that I would feel though. Wow! So much loss and turmoil and stress at such a young age, for this whole group of friends! I admired Jade’s ability to even get out of bed, honestly. And Tommy? What a gem! He was exactly what she needed, with his grins and charm, and yet he had an all-in loyalty that was beyond their years!! I’m dying for more of them together! I also loved all the song references! That was my era! The drama and twists surrounding the other characters also has me uber-invested...
